Humans can see into the future, says a cognitive scientist. It's nothing like the alleged predictive powers of Nostradamus, but we do get a glimpse of events one-tenth of a second before they occur.

And the mechanism behind that can also explain why we are tricked by optical illusions.

Researcher Mark Changizi of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York says it starts with a neural lag that most everyone experiences while awake. When light hits your retina, about one-tenth of a second goes by before the brain translates the signal into a visual perception of the world.

Scientists already knew about the lag, yet they have debated over exactly how we compensate, with one school of thought proposing our motor system somehow modifies our movements to offset the delay.

Changizi now says it's our visual system that has evolved to compensate for neural delays, generating images of what will occur one-tenth of a second into the future. That foresight keeps our view of the world in the present. It gives you enough heads up to catch a fly ball (instead of getting socked in the face) and maneuver smoothly through a crowd. His research on this topic is detailed in the May/June issue of the journal Cognitive Science,

Explaining illusions

That same seer ability can explain a range of optical illusions, Changizi found.

"Illusions occur when our brains attempt to perceive the future, and those perceptions don't match reality," Changizi said.

Here's how the foresight theory could explain the most common visual illusions - geometric illusions that involve shapes: Something called the Hering illusion, for instance, looks like bike spokes around a central point, with vertical lines on either side of this central, so-called vanishing point. The illusion tricks us into thinking we are moving forward, and thus, switches on our future-seeing abilities. Since we aren't actually moving and the figure is static, we misperceive the straight lines as curved ones.

"Evolution has seen to it that geometric drawings like this elicit in us premonitions of the near future," Changizi said. "The converging lines toward a vanishing point (the spokes) are cues that trick our brains into thinking we are moving forward - as we would in the real world, where the door frame (a pair of vertical lines) seems to bow out as we move through it - and we try to perceive what that world will look like in the next instant."

Grand unified theory

In real life, when you are moving forward, it's not just the shape of objects that changes, he explained. Other variables, such as the angular size (how much of your visual field the object takes up), speed and contrast between the object and background, will also change.

For instance, if two objects are about the same distance in front of you, and you move toward one of the objects, that object will speed up more in the next moment, appear larger, have lower contrast (because something that is moving faster gets more blurred), and literally get nearer to you compared with the other object.

Changizi realized the same future-seeing process could explain several other types of illusions. In what he refers to as a "grand unified theory," Changizi organized 50 kinds of illusions into a matrix of 28 categories. The results can successfully predict how certain variables, such as proximity to the central point or size, will be perceived.

Changizi says that finding a theory that works for so many different classes of illusions is "a theorist's dream."

Most other ideas put forth to explain illusions have explained one or just a few types, he said.
The theory is "a big new player in the debate about the origins of illusions," Changizi told LiveScience. "All I'm hoping for is that it becomes a giant gorilla on the block that can take some punches."

Calling All: 'Out of the Casino Box' Investigators  ;)

Anyone here actually made contact with Spin-Geek ???

Thanks in advance

Haven't been successful with my email attempts >>>>

Peace & Prosperity,
EddessaKnight  :)

VLSroulette

Hi dear mate, asking for a refund?  ???

EddessaKnight

Thanks for your reply Victor, have you had any direct contact with Spin?

Not asking for a refund but rather an opportunity for two way communication; the site is still active.

Anyone else ???

Thanks again-

EddessaKnight  :)

To all the gainsayers, naysayers and those who seek to ridicule: I'm asking you for "That willing suspension of disbelief for the moment..." as Coleridge so eloquently expressed it.

Becoming open-minded does NOT imply gullibility or stupidity! But rather, stupidity lies at the feet of those who believe "there's my way and the wrong way." and never seek to explore alternatives for themselves.

And just look at the political and religious wars that have resulted from those types of closed-thought-systems...History repeats...ad nauseum. It's still happening in many parts of our war-torn planet.

So suspend your disbelief for the moment. Try to think beyond the limited meat-space you currently inhabit. Approach it from a "what if..." viewpoint. A "just supposing he really can do it" viewpoint.

Are you there now? OK. Good. Read on...

All that exists is made up of energy. Energy is around us. All around us is interconnected. Past, present and future are part of a seamless whole. I urge you to read "The Holographic Universe" by Michael Talbot for the details. (Still available.)

Now let's consider visualisation. It's a tried and tested strategy much used by athletes and many others as part of their training. Why? Because it works. (Plenty of substantiating evidence for that assertion on the net. Let google be your fwend.)

But, you see, visualisation is actually a strategy for VISUALISING A FUTURE OUTCOME.
And in many cases, visualising the outcome helps create the conditions needed for the desired outcome to eventuate. A type of self-fulfilling, predictive strategy, isn't it?

So now make just a tiny mental shift in your thinking. Perhaps Spin-Geek is VISUALISING a future outcome, just as others do in different areas of human endeavour (ie athletics), and this strategy has now become widely acceptable.

And Spin-Geek is right often enough for it to be profitable according to his videos. I suspect they are genuine. Otherwise why go to all that trouble to make and post them just to flog a $20 book to a pretty limited market? He's not exactly making a fortune from it. His site is pretty obscure as you can see in this analysis: nolinks://nolinks.websiteoutlook.com/nolinks.spin-geek.com

Here's the kicker. I've willingly suspended my disbelief. I'm prepared to give it a try myself. Only then can I make a judgement.

Finally, no -- of course he doesn't need the money for his e-book. But if he gave it away the value of its contents would be discounted, not taken seriously and then ignored. When one pays for something one takes it rather more seriously than a freebie. The price is affordable.

Beliefs are incredibly powerful. They can even melt tumours...

So whilst your disbelief is suspended read it. Try what he has to say. Practise it with determination and patience.

Only then can you form an intelligent, valid judgement based on your personal experience and not on blinkered guesswork.

So you gainsayers, until you're prepared to do exactly that then please hold your (digital) tongue until you've at least given it some sustained effort yourself.

And I'm not talking here about a feeble couple of attempts when you've drunk too much, or are bored!

Do it properly over a sustained period because acquired skills need time to develop.

[Disclaimer: NO. I'm not him in disguise! He's not a relative. I'm not an affiliate. I have NO vested, commercial interest in his product at all. I've simply written this post to raise awareness and to invite a willing suspension of disbelief in those who seek to denigrate unfairly.]

Will do, Alarian. That's if I don't report back to this thread.

EddessaKnight:  a most interesting read about Optical Illusions. Thank you for your positive contribution.

Not quite germane to Spin-Geek's claims, methinks.

SG is making his predictions a lot sooner than 0.1 second before the event, for example. And I'm not sure that what he's doing is in any way related to illusions -- delusions perhaps (!) -- but not illusions  :)

But then again, I could be wrong. My wife will tell you it happens -- frequently.

EddessaKnight

Greetings Esoito,

First a short but sincere note of thanks for a most informative & provocative post to the spin-geek thread.
Permit me the liberty to say that after some 15 years of researching and investigation of gambling @ ground zero, I have humbly concluded that short of short term or entertainment purposes, it's futile to approach the games with conventional theory and playing methodologies. The negative expectation, math and casino countermeasures remove most real time profit incentives- in short it's usually not worth it to have battled the casino all star dealers, their equipment on their property, smoke, for hours to come home with $50 etc. The games are an entertaining but losing proposition provided by the casino for their losing clientele and not a quick rich money opportunity for players and they will react accordingly.

This is a big controversial subject that is finally gaining acceptance because of reality TV shows.
My point is, winning methodologies or processes have to be transparent and unknown to the properties and the effort worthwhile.

OUT OF THE CASINO BOXI
n brief I believe that casino conditions justifies investigation, research and testing of unorthodox approaches such as Spin-Geek precognition; Jack Gillen (Astro-Numerology);Vibration Science and Dr Alexander Tanous author of 'Beyond Coincidence' I have experimented with these and more but I have yet to place a bet using Spin or Remote Viewing. However, I have leaned  a modest telekinesis application and while not in the league of a major magician's performance the telekinesis demonstrates that the phenomena is real, and doable & not a gag or staged trick.

I have the Spin manual but have not been able to make any form of contact with the Spin group or Spin Geek users, so far, although I have attempted on a number of times. Continuance of the SG website likely is  be exposure or PR for Ramtha, (How Do You Know?) etc.         Wasn't a second SG edition to be forthcoming ???

Is it real or is it Memorex???
Frankly if you want to walk on water, you first must get out of the boat.
As this is a public forum I am a wee bit limited, aye but I am in agreement with Esoito, attitude.

Personal perceptions may seem real but they are not always reality.

I know this is not for everyone and that's fine but I do welcome all serious PM exchanges on possibilities!

Thank you in advance for your kind consideration and look forward to further investigative sharing.

Peace & Prosperity Wishes,
~EddessaKnight  :)

esoito

Yes, EK, I've emailed him about version 2 but no reply.

One can only speculate about his 'silence', then move on with what he describes in his version 1.

I find I'm now very interested in following the possibilities posed by mentally picking just one number at random and then visualising it before each spin. The idea, of course, is to see how soon that number comes up.

Of course, it will appear eventually, but can visualisation affect its appearance? I suspect it can but I don't have the maths (not my strong suit, I'm afraid) to work out the significance of when it appears in terms of whether visualisation is working or not.

Perhaps someone can help with a suitable formula/methodology to calculate any meaningful results versus sheer chance?

VLSroulette

QuotePerhaps someone can help with a suitable formula/methodology to calculate any meaningful results versus sheer chance?

Esoito, it is veyr simple: use flat-betting and standard deviation. Anything achieving a positive standard deviation consistently (read over large samples) at a negative expectation game really IS into something.

Remember the larger the sample the lesser the chances for the phenomenon to be "dumb luck" and the more credibility attached to it. i.e. a Biased wheel can't be labelled like such by just a couple 150-spin sessions. You need more. (of course, biased so great to be physically detected with the bare eye do exist, but the effect still needs to be measured against actuals from such defective device).

All being said the truth behind successful bet selection is really simple, if you are betting the house edge by any means, that's what works (and I really mean any means ;) Precognition, numerology, anything is valid! As long as you can win consistently, that's what counts).

Cheers,
Victor

EddessaKnight

Hi Esoito, Victor, et al- (sorry we have had an unexpected disruption of service & timing)

100% agreed Victor, we have a saying, here @ gambling ground zero, that an edge is an edge!

Esoito, -How are things going Beneath The Southern Cross???
Have you seen JT Knight  (Ramtha) on seminar tour in Australia ? I have repeatedly written to the three listed parties on the SG website and directly to the Ramtha School about Spin and although they send  RSE newsletters there is no direct reply on Spin question – I continue to post on this thread hoping to communicate with affiliated parties and or participants.

Have received a number of emails, PM's, etc inquiring on my own experiences, I am also doing this posting as a one fit to all interested parties.

"Allow yourself to believe. No one ever learned to do something he "knew" was impossible. If you disbelieve, in principal, either you will deny the validity of any psychic experience you may have or simply may not permit yourself to have such an experience."                                                            ~Dr Alexander Tanous

In a antique shop I found a extraordinary first edition book "Beyond Coincidence" by East Coast para-psychologist  Dr Alex Tanous with Harvey Ardman published back in 1976 . The gist of the book was about his theory for paranormal abilities such as clairvoyance, OBE, remote viewing – visualization and taught others (as professor @ St John's University in Brooklyn & University of Maine) to duplicate his feats .

The list of public broadcast predictions including winners at he Belmont Stakes & Vernon Downs racing, Kennedy's and I while in Boston I heard Alex on WEEI Radio 'Sports Huddle' starring Eddie Andelman when during a telephone interview Dr Tanous predicted at the precise moment of a plane crash  and tragic death of legendary baseball star Roberto Clemente. Newspapers next day carried the incredible story.WOW!!!

While reading I came to the closing chapter 'How To Tap Your Own Psychic Powers' and knew I came into the mental zone; asked my wife for a deck of cards and proceeded shuffle and then to call out and draw 4 cards in a row to our mutual astonishment. I was hooked on further investigation and that led to my current successful experimentation with telekinesis via  Uri Geller.

Tele-Visualization
Proponents hold that remote viewing is a teachable psychic-like technique that most people can learn with practice and patience.
Among noted proof positive publicized masters:
Jack Gillen, uncanny psychic and astro-numerologist who's radio and newspaper predictions for all forms of speculation(including Wall St)  are sensational and now legendary. Heard him on  radio and won with his non losing Kentucky Derby selections
Dr Angela Thompson internationally renown master and teacher  of remote viewing  formerly of Boulder, NV and now in the UK
THE WESSEX REMOTE VIEWING GROUP (WRVG) Formerly the Nevada Remote Viewing Group
~
"HOW DO YOU KNOW?" ~JT Knight
And then there is there is this enigma wrapped in a mystery 'Spin-Geek'. Even though incognito I choose to believe those roulette video results to be authentic and unaltered. I continue practice as SG suggests and am improving my prediction rate slowly – requires much focus & discipline; leaving me to wonder how this meditative/visualization  practice will work in the tumultuous casino environment.
Not bragging just telling of my non-sensational humble experiences and belief that mind matters.
I know these unorthodox approaches are not for everyone I sell nothing and do not represent the above in any capacity.

Remember to always keep a diamond in your mind !

No Worries Mate....
Good Weekend Wishes All,
EddessaKnight  :)

HI All

i am an open minded person and so it comes that i think that its possible to predict in this case the next  number that shows....

it all just depends how you train this ability to make it work for you .. i know that there are a handfull of so called PsiPlayers in  germany
and they also write in a German roulette forum about how to become also a Psi Player and so on..

its all about training .. i think you may be interrested in this site .. where they have videos that activate Delta Alpha and Theta waves

when you watch them (with Headphones) i think it comes quit handy to get the unconscious awareness that is needed ...

nolinks://nolinks.kl3z.com/data/hey.html

        Delta (0.1 to 3 Hz)

The lowest frequencies are delta. These are less than 4 Hz and occur in deep sleep and in some abnormal processes also during
experiences of "empathy state". Delta waves are involved with our ability to integrate and let go. It reflects unconscious mind.

It is the dominant rhythm in infants up to one year of age and it is present in stages 3 and 4 of sleep.

It tends to be the highest in amplitude and the slowest waves. We increase Delta waves in order to decrease our awareness of the
physical world. We also access information in our unconscious mind through Delta.

Peak performers decrease Delta waves when high focus and peak performance are required.

However, most individuals diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder, naturally increase rather than decrease Delta activity when
trying to focus. The inappropriate Delta response often severely restricts the ability to focus and maintain attention. It is as if the
brain is locked into a perpetual drowsy state.

Another way to look at Delta is to imagine you are driving in a car and you shift into 1st gear....you're not going to get anywhere
very fast. So Delta would represent 1st gear.

Delta (0.1-3 Hz):Distribution: generally broad or diffused may be bilateral, widespread
Subjective feeling states: deep, dreamless sleep, non-REM sleep, trance, unconscious
Associated tasks & behaviors: lethargic, not moving, not attentive
Physiological correlates: not moving, low-level of arousal
Effects of training: can induce drowsiness, trance, deeply relaxed states

Theta (4-8 Hz)

The next brainwave is theta. Theta activity has a frequency of 3.5 to 7.5 Hz and is classed as "slow" activity. It is seen in connection with creativity, intuition, daydreaming, and fantasizing and is a repository for memories, emotions, sensations. Theta waves are strong during internal focus, meditation, prayer, and spiritual awareness. It reflects the state between wakefulness and sleep. Relates to subconscious.

It is abnormal in awake adults but is perfectly normal in children up to 13 years old. It is also normal during sleep.
Theta is believed to reflect activity from the limbic system and hippocampal regions. Theta is observed in anxiety,
behavioral activation and behavioral inhibition.

When the theta rhythm appears to function normally it mediates and/or promotes adaptive, complex behaviors
such as learning and memory. Under unusual emotional circumstances, such as stress or disease states,
there may be an imbalance of three major transmitter systems, which results in aberrant behavior.

Back to our car example, Theta would be considered 2nd gear. Not as slow as 1st gear (Delta) but still not very fast.

Distribution: usually regional, may involve many lobes, can be lateralized or diffuse;
Subjective feeling states: intuitive, creative, recall, fantasy, imagery, creative, dreamlike, switching thoughts, drowsy; "oneness", "knowing"
Associated tasks & behaviors: creative, intuitive; but may also be distracted, unfocused
Physiological correlates: healing, integration of mind/body
Effects of Training: if enhanced, can induce drifting, trance-like state. If suppressed, can improve concentration, ability to focus attention

        Alpha (8-12 Hz)

Alpha waves are those between 7.5 and 13(Hz). Alpha waves will peak around 10Hz. Good healthy alpha production
promotes mental resourcefulness, aids in the ability to mentally coordinate, enhances overall sense of relaxation and fatigue.
In this state you can move quickly and efficiently to accomplish whatever task is at hand. When Alpha predominates most people
feel at ease and calm. Alpha appears to bridge the conscious to the subconscious.

It is the major rhythm seen in normal relaxed adults - it is present during most of life especially beyond the thirteenth year when it
       dominates the resting tracing.

Alpha rhythms are reported to be derived from the white matter of the brain. The white matter can be considered the part of the
brain that connects all parts with each other.

Alpha is a common state for the brain and occurs whenever a person is alert (it is a marker for alertness and sleep), but not
actively processing information. They are strongest over the occipital (back of the head) cortex and also over frontal cortex.

Alpha has been linked to extroversion (introverts show less), creativity (creative subjects show alpha when listening and coming to
a solution for creative problems), and mental work.

When your alpha is with in normal ranges we tend to also experience good moods, see the world truthfully, and have a sense of
calmness. Alpha is one of the brain's most important frequency to learn and use information taught in the classroom and on the job.

You can increase alpha by closing your eyes or deep breathing or decrease alpha by thinking or calculating.

Alpha-Theta training can create an increase in sensation, abstract thinking and self-control.

In our car scenario, Alpha would represent neutral or idle. Alpha allows us to shift easily from one task to another.

Distribution: regional, usually involves entire lobe; strong occipital w/eyes closed
Subjective feeling states: relaxed, not agitated, but not drowsy; tranquil, conscious
Associated tasks & behaviors: meditation, no action
        Physiological correlates: relaxed, healing
Effects of Training: can produce relaxation
Sub band low alpha: 8-10: inner-awareness of self, mind/body integration, balance
Sub band high alpha: 10-12: centering, healing, mind/body connection

esoito

A most useful summary, Breeze. Thank you.

The Alpha zone is probably a basic mental pre-condition for the Spin-Geek approach to have any chance of working at all.

How do you achieve that state without paying through the nose for expensive stuff?

Take a look here -- it's free:  nolinks://nolinks.awesomealpha.net/

hermes

You achieve those states through meditation, especially Alpha state. Than miracles can happen. Geek roulette is not a fantasy, it is a real. You are during those states in ecstasy with extraordinary power. There is a guy who goes into ecstasy and paint Picasso so real that even experts see any difference! Some people say that Picasso occupy his body during that seance. The guy is complete vegetable for while after painting. He makes a lot of money for the paintings. I saw the video. I wouldn't let mess Picasso in my body even for millions of $$$. He and Salvatore Dali were mental. The guy will inherit some of the madness.
