So I bet 1 unit on 7.

If I win I'm up 4, if I lose I bet another 1 unit.

If it hits I'm up 3.

I carry this on 5 times (obviously if I hit on
the fifth roll I come out even but adding the
5th gives me more rolls to lose on and remain
in the game).

Next I bet 2 units and 2 again, then 3 and 3
then 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 19, 24 and 30.

The table has a 32 max bet so I actually bet
32 on the final just because I can.

So long as a seven is rolled in 19 rolls or
less I either win or break even.

Another like-kind as well:

Bet on the 7

Basic Gist: Wait five non 7 rolls and place a bet on the one
roll bet for the 7.
Uses Martingale System of betting progression.

Max Loss - Huge

The method basically entails having about $200-400 in chips
on your tray, so that you can once again chase any losses
up at least 6 rolls if necessary.

My old friend would stand at the table waiting for a series
of winning rolls to come, meaning that as long as someone
was rolling numbers and had not rolled a seven in a while.
He said that in most cases, letting four to five numbers roll
without a seven coming up would be his sign to move.

He would then throw $5 out and say "$5 on the 7".  If the 7
came up, he would take his $20 winnings and his bet and sit
until it came around again.  If the 7 didn't come up, he
would throw $10, then $20, then $40 then $100, then $200
until he topped out or a seven came up.  I stood next to
him six different times and watched him make hundreds of
dollars betting this way and I am glad to be giving this to
you along with my method.  If you are one of the few that
my field method doesn't work that well for, then this might
be the one for you.  It takes a little longer to gain winnings
on, in my opinion and you have to make sure that your bets
are being put on the seven, but it can really make some money
with much less risk than tossing money on the pass line.

His only word of caution to me will be my only words of
caution to you.  Don't expect to stand here for 6 hours
and win all the money you ever wanted.  The law of averages
will catch up to you sooner than later.  So, treat this as a
gambling thing. When your luck is good, it's good and when
it's not, leave!

Another few math-challenged authors.

The Any-7 a.k.a. Big Red bet is the worst on the layout.  It has the highest odds in favor of the House than anywhere on the craps layout and short of the Big Six Wheel probably has the highest edge than most other bets you could make anywhere in the casino as well.

Betting on the 7 to appear after X-number of rolls can be lucrative at times, especially at what is known as a 'cold table.'  But DO NOT bet the Any-7.  Use a Hop bet instead.  It will cost 2 units more per bet but the returns are far greater.

To hop the sevens you'd toss in 3 units close to the center of the table (in a clear area) or just pass them to the nearest dealer and say "gimme the 7's hopping."

A $1 bet on Any Seven would only pay $4, but a $3 hop bet on the 7 (which would cover all 3 possible combinations of 5-2, 6-1, or 4-3) would pay $15.  Total profit = $13.

If you wish, use a mild progression.  But once you start the bet process you should probably continue as a natural come-out 7 is just as good as a roll-ending 7 to rake in all that green.

No-brainer math.
